Palagan Ambarawa Museum has several collections of weapons used during battle, or Theater Ambarawa. It was the events of the battle between the Indonesian People’s Security Army (now Army) along with group of Indonesian independence fighters on one side, against a group of Allied soldiers, NICA and the Dutch colonial army on the other hand, that happened between October and 25 December 1945, only 2 – of 3 months after the Soekarno-Hatta proclaimed Indonesia’s independence nation.

Palagan Ambarawa Museum also display some photos in black and white faces several soldiers who have an important role in warfare Ambarawa, and those who survived the battle were later appointed to occupy several important positions both within the military and in government institutions.

Botom: Photo Colonel Sudirman (1916-1950), Head of Division-V, and as Commander of People’s Security Army in battle Ambarawa, Palagan Ambarawa Museum collection. He later became General of the first and the youngest, and first Commander of the Indonesian Army. She almost became a legend and hero of the most respected Indonesian army, and was awarded 5-star as the first General in the reign of Suharto.
Top: Photograph Lieutenant Colonel Gatot Subroto was the commander of Division-V TKR, Palagan Ambarawa Museum collection. He is active in pursuit of Magelang Allied troops. Many orders that he remove the regulatory strategy of war at the time. Gen. Gatot Subroto gazetted as a national hero after his death is sudden in 1962. Who was driving a horse sculpture made of bronze set on a place in Navan, the town of his birth.
Bottom: Photo Isdiman Lieutenant Colonel, Commander of the Regiment 16/II Navan, Palagan Ambarawa Museum collection. He was killed in battle Ambarawa on November 26, 1945. He is one of the best Commander owned by Colonel Sudirman at the time, which makes it then had to lead his own battle.

Top: Photo Surono Captain under the command of Lieutenant Colonel military units during the battle Ambarawa Gatot Subroto, Palagan Ambarawa Museum collection. He replaces Suryo Sumpeno, which is a faithful follower of Sukarno, to become Commander of the Diponegoro military command under the Suharto government. He is one of the key figures during the Soeharto era.
Bottom: Photo Captain Sarwo Wibowo, Infantry Company Commander Battalion A. Yani, is also active in the battle Ambarawa, Palagan Ambarawa Museum collection. He later became Commander RPKAD (now Kopassus) in 1965 which meghancurkan fighters and followers of communism in Central Java and other cities. He was the father-in-law of President SBY.

By visiting these Palagan Ambarawa Museum, perhaps people will have better knowledge about politics and military maps during reign of Sukarno and Suharto. Although the museum is rather small Palagan Ambarawa, both in size and number of his collection, he was there to remind people about the act of heroism and sacrifices made by the founders of the republic and freedom fighters during the critical period of national struggle of Indonesia to maintain their independence.
